Delta’s Force for Global Good & Habitat for Humanity in China
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Delta’s Force for Global Good will be building homes for five families in China. You are invited to join 50 Delta employees from around the world on this project. You and a companion would join Delta’s Force for Global Good build in Pinghu, China from May 20 – 28, 2011. The trip time includes eight travel days, with three days of actual building and the remaining filled with cultural experiences in Shanghai. This package includes:

The time you spend building will be supplemented with opportunities to get to know the homeowners, the local community and your fellow builders. We will be working on 5 houses through the final stage of construction framing, plastering, siding roofing, and painting. Note however, no construction skills are necessary. The project will also include the opportunity to experience tours, shopping and cultural events in Shanghai, China. Once the auction has closed, the highest bidder will be provided with a detailed itinerary and handbook for the trip. This trip will mark the seventh official global build for the Delta Force for Global Good.

Things to Know before you Bid
This is a working trip, involving physical activities under what you may regard as difficult circumstances. Please read all terms and conditions and consider carefully before bidding.
Age Requirement - The winning bidder and companion must be 18 or older to participate in the trip to China.
Screening Conversation – After the auction has closed, the potential winning bidder may be contacted by a Delta representatives to have a conversation about the trip. The purpose of this conversation is to determine mental and physical wellness of the winner. This conversation is also to ensure that all parties involved understand the purpose and nature of the trip they have won. Topics of conversation may include, but are not limited to:
· International travel experience in developing countries
· Familiarity and/or work with Habitat for Humanity
· Reasons for wanting to visit
· Medical conditions
· Comfort with modest accommodations and rustic living
· Comfort with group travel and sticking to a pre-determined itinerary
· Awareness that Delta employees make up the remainder of the team and that media and press will be a part of this experience
Following this interview, Delta may determine, in its sole discretion, to award the trip to an alternative bidder. Under such circumstances, miles will be refunded to the account of the bidder whose bid is declined.
Habitat Application – The successful bidder will be required to complete the standard Habitat for Humanity volunteer application.
Lodging – The team will be staying at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel in Changfeng Park, Shanghai, China. The hotel’s local attractions include Fen Xiang Fashion Market; Yu Garden, and the Shanghai Museum. The hotel offers six restaurants, an indoor pool, high-speed internet service, a state-of-the-art spa and fitness center, and much more. Changing hotels if you are not satisfied upon check-in will not be possible. You will be staying in a four star hotel in the area that has been booked by the Delta group. However, please arrive with realistic expectations and an abundance of patience and flexibility. Some of the services and facilities above may not be available on a 24-hour basis or without advance request. Fees on certain facilities/services may apply. You will be staying in a single occupancy room.
Climate – The weather will be in the 70’s throughout most of the day. The spring from March to May is recommended as the best time to travel Shanghai.
Passports – All volunteers must travel with their passports. Passport should be valid for at least six months.
Visas – A Visa will required for China. You are totally responsible for securing your visa prior to departure date. The cost of the Visa is your responsibility.
Immunization and Health Reminders – Refer to the CDC’s guidelines on travel to China (www.cdc.gov) – all vaccinations and health-related issues are the sole responsibility of the participant.
Medical Insurance – Medical insurance is included in the package. This mandatory insurance coverage is consistent with policies recommended by Habitat for Humanity International’s legal department and ratified by the Habitat for Humanity International board of directors. Coverage ensures a comprehensive risk management program and provides protection for all Habitat’s short term mission volunteers, including participants in this event. Medical care will be available on the work site at all times.
Health and Food – Medical care will be available on the work site at all times. Bottled water will be provided for you on the work site and at the hotel. In hotels and restaurants, drink water has always been boiled, and you can drink it without worry. Chinese cuisine is varied including seafood and noodles. Rice is China's staple food and can be served several times a day. Scallions, bean sprouts, cabbage, and gingerroot are other traditional foods. Tea, the beverage offered at most meals, is China's national beverage. The most popular types of tea—green, black, and oolong are commonly drunk plain, without milk or sugar added.
Delta’s Force for Global Good Trip to China Terms and Conditions
By bidding on this auction you agree that you have read and understand the following terms and conditions as well as the “Things to Know” section below that are associated with bidding and/or winning the Delta’s Force for Global Good Trip to China.
Terms and Conditions
· The winning bidder must comply with all terms and conditions applicable to the relevant item or experience.
· The winning bidder and their companion must be 18 or older to participate in the trip to China.
· After the auction has closed the winner and chosen companion are subject to a screening conversation at a time that will be mutually agreed upon by the winner, companion, and Delta representatives within two weeks of the close of the auction. The purpose of this conversation is to determine the mental and physical wellness of the winner and companion. This conversation is also to ensure that all parties involved understand the purpose and nature of the trip they have won. Topics that may be included in this conversation are but not limited to:
o International travel experience in developing countries
o Familiarity and/or work with Habitat for Humanity
o Reasons for wanting to visit China
o Medical conditions
o Comfortableness with modest accommodations and rustic living
o Comfortableness with group travel and sticking to a pre-determined itinerary
o Awareness that Delta employees make up the remainder of the team and that media and press will be a part of this experience
Following the screening conversation between the winning bidder, companion and Delta representatives, the winning bidder will be contacted by Delta representatives for a follow-up discussion concerning the status of the winner’s and companion’s acceptance or dismissal from attending Delta’s Force For Global Good in Pinghu (Shanghai), China. Upon Delta’s acceptance of the winner and companion, they will promptly complete the participant applications for the trip. If Delta chooses to disallow the winning bidder and companion from participating in the trip, his or her SkyMiles will be fully refunded. SkyMiles may only be refunded at Delta’s discretion after the screening conversation has been completed.
Other than those specifically listed above, no additional items or services are included in this package.
